Relational Approaches

Have you ever heard of cognitive impairment, mental illness, or neurodevelopmental disorders? To do a good job as a PCA or HSSA, it is important that you know how to interact with people, take their needs into account, defuse a crisis, and prevent disruptive behaviours in order to help people achieve their full potential. To do so, this learning guide will familiarize you with the relational approach. To this end, this guide will teach you to: - Consider the needs of the assisted person - Create a relationship and interact with them and their loved ones - Know how to react when a person engages in disruptive behaviour - Build a climate of trust with them and their loved ones - Adapt your way of communicating based on the various problems encountered- Know the limits of your intervention and when to ask for help - Preserve your emotional stability - Work as a team and collaborate with your peers as you will in your future professionThrough various exercises and scenarios, you will have the opportunity to discuss and implement your new relational approach strategies.
